Winter at the Zoo
January 1-March 31, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Winter is a perfect time to enjoy the brisk air, free parking and maybe even some hot chocolate, but don’t forget to wear your hat and gloves. Winter continues through March and may not be a fit time for man nor beast, but for many zoo animals, winter is a wonderland. Walk into the Sacramento Zoo in the winter, and it hits you right away. Tranquility! The Zoo is open, the animals are out and for the most part, the Zoo exists apart from the outside world. Many animals are much livelier in winter than in the summer. If you bundle up, it’s a wonderful experience. Because there are fewer people, animals that tend to be shy are more likely to show themselves. It makes you feel like it’s just you and the animals. There are red pandas that scamper, lemurs that bounce, a talking parrot and often a tiger in the window. If need be, there is warmth in the reptile house along with the snakes, toads and other unusual creatures.
