High on hairspray and caked with Max Factor, Tyler Coppin's LyreBird is a tour de force - a visually extravagant and outrageously comic portrayal of an extraordinary Australian and a giant of world theatre, Sir Robert Helpmann. Set in a theatre dressing room at intermission during the ballet Don Quixote, the dilapidated thespian rummages through the highs and lows of an extraordinary life that began on a sheep ranch in outback South Australia before climaxing on the stages of Broadway and London.
