Bat Bone Bonanza!
March 7-March 8, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Bats are busiest when bugs abound! (Say that three times, fast!) Not just a Halloween decoration, these fascinating animals can eat up to half their body weight in insects in one night! That means one little brown bat can eat 600 mosquitoes!
Bats are very unique because they are the only mammal that can fly, but their basic bone structure is very similar to other mammals -- like people! This weekend we'll focus on bats and the unique skeletal properties that allow them to fly.
For kids under 12: make-and-take a paper bat skeleton.
