Katite the Red Tail Hawk Retires
April 18-April 19, 2009
Add Review/Comment
Join us this weekend to celebrate the retirement of our Red-tailed Hawk, Katite. After 30 years of faithful service, she is leaving the museum to enjoy a peaceful retirement. Red-tailed hawks only live 10-15 years in the wild and about 15-20 years in captivity, so Katite is a very special bird! She has been a hard-working raptor, traveling to educate school children in their classrooms with the museum outreach program, and visiting with museum guests during weekend wildlife presentations. This weekend will be the public’s last opportunity to enjoy visiting with Katite. Wildlife presentations at both 12:00pm and 2:00pm will feature Katite. Children can sign our giant good bye banner. A make and take activity is planned. Thanks for everything Katite, and enjoy your retirement!
