June 24-August 22, 2009
Add Review/Comment
The California Museum is proud to announce that it has been selected by the Library of Congress as the first of five institutions nationwide to host the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition in 2009, and the only institution in the West to have this honor. The 3,500 square foot exhibition will chart Lincoln’s growth from prairie student to international legend, addressing the controversies that marked his road to the presidency and how his words still resonate today. Particular attention will be paid to his key presidential order, the Emancipation Proclamation. The exhibition will feature the 1861 Inaugural Bible recently used by President Obama, the Lincoln Douglas debate scrapbook, the Springfield Farewell Address, and copies in Lincoln’s hand of the Second Inaugural Address & the Emancipation Proclamation.
