Power, Powder, Pioneer Politics: Deciding California’s Fate
June 27, 2009
Add Review/Comment
The year of decision is 1846. Something must change, but what will the outcome be? Local Californios want to remain independent from Mexico. In fact they want to be their own nation. But the Americans see California as fulfilling their Manifest Destiny to have a country stretching from Sea to shining sea. Mexico owes both France and England money. Will they sell California to one of these countries to settle old debts? You are John Sutter, sitting right in the middle of this controversy, and you must decide which side you are on. Your decision is required. Listen to the differing points of view, and choose wisely.
