We Made it! Newly arrived Emigrants from the East
September 19, 2009
Add Review/Comment
One young pioneer wrote from California, “Never take no cutoffs, and hurry along as fast as you can.” Some groups made the trip in record time, with no problems. Others barely made it to Sutter’s Fort with their lives. Still others never saw a Western sunset. Just getting here as a real accomplishment. Hear the tales from the trail. Help the new immigrants settle in and make repairs. Big decisions are still to be made. Where do we go from here? Is the farmland really free for the taking? And what about the rumors that the California government wants the new immigrants to leave?
This program is graciously conducted by Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park Volunteer Docents.
