Director: Manual Jose Pickett
Producer: Ray Tatar
"Frida Kahlo" was married to the Latin American artist Diego Rivera, who often used Kahlo as the subject of his paintings. The story of their tempestuous romance is the focus of the play. Although Kahlo was known for her emotional paintings. Frida, will always be remembered as the artist whose paintings conveyed the pain of her husband's infidelity, her terrible bus accident, and her feelings about women and sexuality. "My reputation as an artist will not coincide with the cult of my personality," says the heroine of "Frida Kahlo." Dr. Manuel Pickett’s staging of Rubén Amavizca Murúa's surreal collage about the iconic Mexican artist is intent on summoning up her creative core as much as exploring her eventful history. Diana Tercero will play Frida Kahlo while Richard Falcón will present her husband Diego Rivera, Frida’s alter ego will be played by Diana Mandujano while Frida’s sister will be played by Veronica Marie Perez. Nelly Trejo will play Frida’s one time friend and betrayer.
