New Helvetia Theatre presents Hedwig and the Angry Inch, starring Christopher Davis Carlisle as “internationally ignored song stylist” Hedwig Schmidt, Nanci Zoppi as Yitzhak, and The New Humans as the Angry Inch. New Helvetia’s first production at the beautiful Artisan Gallery on Del Paso Blvd. is rethinking theatre in Sacramento. Directed by Matthew Schneider.

The play tells the story of "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, a fourth-wall smashing East German rock n roll goddess who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with just an angry inch.

Please go see this. The acting/singing is amazing. One of the best productions I have ever seen. An evening of being truly entertained.

It was great, but should have been a lot better! The actress playing Yitzhak was only so-so but you could tell she thought she was awesome. Do go, but don't feel totally bummed if you don't make it.
