Modern Masters
April 22-April 25, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Catch the next wave as daring, innovative choreographers unleash their imaginations in new works of astonishing creativity. See the most talked-about new voices in American dance in an explosion of creativity from the edge. Five world premieres will bowl you over with fresh new concepts and ideas as diverse as the wide universe of dance.
Works by six different choreographers will be highlighted, including Sacramento Ballet favorites Amy Seiwert – now Choreographer-in-Residence for the Smuin Ballet in San Francisco – and Nolan T’Sani, long-time member of the Sacramento dance community and currently a professor in the Dance Department at Sacramento State. Other choreographers whose work will be featured include: Russian dancer Yuri Zhukov, now living in San Francisco; and Sacramento Ballet resident dancers Nicole Haskins, Stefan Calka and Sunchai Muy.
The Modern Masters Series was begun with the idea of presenting work by both established and new choreographers in a full theatrical setting, but one of far greater intimacy than can be attained in a hall such as the Community Center Theatre. Favorite locations for Modern Masters in the past have included both University Theatre and the Sacramento Theatre Company.
