The 2009 theme of "WILD About GIANT Pumpkins" combines the traditional pumpkin weigh-off competition with a variety of food, activities and special performances, featuring a safari-style flare. The focal point will be the GIANT pumpkin weigh-off on Saturday, October 3.
Last year, a Canadian grower won more than $9,000 in prize money with a pumpkin weighing 1,536.5 pounds-a 2008 world record. Family entertainment and children's activities will include pumpkins-for-sale patch, pumpkin regatta, safari-inspired scarecrow contest, pumpkin decorating contest, carving demonstrations, pumpkin recipe contest, a classic car show and much more.
