Pygmalion

Director: Shannon Mahoney
Bright irreverent, funny, and always perceptive, the letters exchanged between Shaw and "Mrs. Pat" preceding the first production of Pygmalion reflected their two distinctive personalities brilliantly. The way to what proved to be a great success was not easy, and it is all captured in this immensely playable play—which uses the letters as a launching point to examine the whole myriad of people and events that were involved. The result is a feast of humor and lively action, projected with a refreshing dexterity and an adroitness of style all too rarely encountered in today's theatre.
Cast: Melissa Rae Frago- street songstress; Eliza Doolittle and Scott Divine as the starmaker; Henry Higgins in BIT's modern adaptation of "Pygmalion."
This is not your grandmother's Pygmalion...
George Bernard Shaw's timeless tale of rags to riches and oppression of the classes has been adapted and modernized for the stage. Our story begins several years in the future...Eliza, an unknown street musician, longs to taste the world of the rich and famous. One rainy evening outside the Kodak Theatre in Los Angels she meets Henry Higgins. Through his coaching he begins to transform Eliza into the next American Idol, the next Diva.
She soon becomes over-exposed and begins to wonder if fame and fortune is really what she wanted...
