Meet a Fungus!

It's definitely alive! But it's not an animal, and it's not a plant -- although many people mistake it for one. It's a fungus! We are used to seeing fungi as mostly mushrooms, but they are part of a much larger kingdom. Some fungi are among the largest living things on Earth -- bigger than a whale or a tree! No wonder they are featured in so many stories and fairy tales!

We'll explore the world of fungi this Saturday & Sunday only at the Discovery Museum Science & Space Center's Science Discovery Weekend. There will be a fungus exhibit, activities, and even a take home craft for visitors 12 and under. Be sure to check out our many other weekend activities too!

Voted "Best Place to Bring the Kids on a Rainy Day" in a Sacramento Bee poll! All activities are included with general admission.
