Tired of high gas prices? Here is your chance to learn how to combat those high gas prices. Learn the what, how, and why of biodiesel. Included is a brief introduction on where we are now in the world of traditional, alternative and experimental fuels and a discussion of biomass and biofuels will be held to set the stage for biodiesel. From there focus will be placed on the properties of biodiesel and how we obtain this fuel. The benefits and potential drawbacks of biodiesel will also be examined from the standpoints of environmental impacts, economics, governmental agencies and sociological/anthropological implications. The myths of biodiesel will also be dispelled.

Participants will then be given the opportunity to be "hands on" and will have the opportunity to create their own small titration and small batch of biodiesel. This workshop will be led by American River College instructor, Arthur Blank. Blank is a specialist in alternative fuels/energy and the special technology required to use it. He currently teaches courses in alternative fuel, biodiesel with electrics, and fuel cells. Students must be at least 16 years of age and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
