Fourth Stage is proud to present P. Joshua Laskey’s "The Naked Nativity" this Holiday Season. If the holidays are about family and the things that bind us together whether we want to be or not, then Fourth Stage’s offering of two of laskey’s funniest domestic comedies is right on the money.

Directed by Margaret Morneau, Artistic Director of the company, The Naked Nativity marks the beginning of the pair’s tenth year of artistic collaboration and productive friendship. The play, which contains no nudity and is suitable for theatergoers of all ages, is the story of a family so familiar; you may just think you know them.

When the Carpenters return to the motel where they’ve stayed at Christmastime for thirty years, their thin veneer of domestic bliss begins to unravel in comic fashion. The Naked Nativity is a story of questionable parenting and parentage, sibling rivalry and unrequited revenge, and a woman trying to hold the whole thing together by sheer force of faith. The play features Sacramento-area local favorites Jeff Webster, Deborah Shalhoub, Justin Munoz, and the playwright himself.

As a bonus, theatergoers who arrive at least a half hour before curtain will be given a free performance of Laskey’s most popular play to date, the ten-minute piece "Off", a real-time look at two virgins on their wedding night as they cross the threshold of the bridal suite.
