Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. This Tony Award winning musical features a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

      I watched this musical last night at the 24th Street Theater. This was my first time going to that theater and I was a bit apprehensive. I've always enjoyed musicals and have attended a few on Broadway and also at the Sacramento Community Center. I did not have any great expectations but was pleasantly surprised with the show. What a talented cast. Their voices were strong and the show was funny! The audience members who participated really got into their characters and seemed to really enjoy themselves on stage. It wasn't hokey at all! The only reason I'm giving this show a 4.5 is because there were a few problems with feedback. The live music was terrific, the vocals superb, and the actors excellent. Certainly a show not to be missed. Collapse

      I watched this musical last night at the 24th Street Theater. This was my first time going to that theater and I was a bit apprehensive.
