Workshop 1: "Body Movement" with Angie Baca

Both women and men of all levels will learn how to be to isolate different parts of their body and how to apply these movements to Salsa, Mambo and Cha Cha. Students will also learn how to isolate their hips, rib cage and shoulders along with a "how to" and "when" to use head, body and hip rolls. tudents will also learn how to use these body movements in their open floor shines, partnering and pattern work. Angie will teach you the correct timing and execution of such body movements in relation to the music. Whether you dance on the 1, 2, 3 or 5...this workshop should be considered a cornerstone for any dancer!!!

Workshop 2 - "Musicality for Dancers" with Montuno Swing Musicians and Angie Baca

This workshop is to learn how music and movement coincide with each other. Angie along with the Montuno Swing musicians will break down the rhythmic instruments in Latin music such as Salsa, Mambo and Cha Cha Cha and the order in which these rhythms are played to teach the dancers how to not only dance to the music but more importantly how to listen, interpret and recognize each Latin rhythm. This workshop will further help you as a dancer know when to execute the moves that you learned in the first workshop in relation to the music.

Workshop 3 - "Hands-on Musicality Workshop" with the musicians of Montuno Swing

The title says it all!!! This class will be a fun, relaxing way for dancers and musicians to actually learn to play some of the instruments we see on stage every Saturday inside JB's Lounge. The class will be a demonstration and hands-on session which Includes one or more of the following instruments: cowbells and other bells, clavés, shakers, congas and piano. The workshop will cover traditional techniques and rhythms, history and cultural background of the instruments, and their uses in a wide range of musical styles. Students are encourage to bring there own instruments.
