Remember what it was like when you were a teenager? If it was in the 50’s, did you hang out at the drive in? In the 60’s, were you at Woodstock? How about the 70’s – were you disco dancing like John Travolta? If you were a teen in the 80’s I bet you were playing Pacman. And in the 90’s I know you were spending time (and your parents’ $$) at the mall! Weren’t those fun, safe times?
Unfortunately, Teens today have much more challenging options (gangs, drugs, alcohol) and need a safe place to hang out. That is exactly why we invite you to join our Emcee, Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and a cast of who’s who on March 1st for… "Good Vibrations"- a musical tribute to the youth movement from the 1950’s until today!
Proceeds will go to benefit VIBE (http://www.thevibefoundation.org), a teen run organization that is creating a youth lounge in Midtown Sacramento that will provide a cool place for teens to hang out in our community to be with friends, do homework, gain ROP credit, listen to music and stay safe.
In addition to refreshments donated by Barefoot Winery and Zocalo’s, you’ll be entertained by our celebrity "decade" emcees including: Winnie Comstock-Carlson***Councilmember Steve Cohn***Cassandra Jennings***Lisa Serna Mayorga, who will share memories of what it was like when they were teens (yes, they all remember that far back!!) You’ll also love the songs and dances from each of the decades that will be showcased on stage.
