Sac State Spring 2010 World Music Series opens with music from Kyrgyzstan, featuring Ordo Sakhna. Ordo Sakhna comprises a group of professional musicians from Kyrgyzstan- the conservatory graduates and laureates of international and regional contests.

The repertoire of the Theater appeals to a wide audience and the musical styles range from the ancient archaic melodies (Kuu) to folk-jazz. The ensemble includes wind and clay pipes, drums, blow horns, iron mouthpieces, and many other unique instruments. Artists will show a mastery of both performing beautiful melodies and virtuosity with the instruments--it is an amazing show.

The group's appearance in the U.S. was poorly advertised due to lack of funds and the artists are struggling to even cover the cost of their travel. Please consider coming even if just for a bit, you will fall in love with the beautiful melodies of this remote and exotic culture!
