Demonstration Day: Trader’s Faire California’s 1st Shopping Mall
April 16-April 18, 2010

If you shopped at Sutter’s Fort, you would not just buy the goods, you would probably meet the artisans who made them: ironwork from the blacksmith, cloth from the weaving factory, barrels from the cooperage and flour from the grist mill. Talented men and women made and sold their products at the busy market to locals as well as to the weary pioneers who arrived at the Fort after many months of travel.
Three day demo day with commerce from vendors. Sutter’s Fort was indeed a type of mall. This is where all of the settlers (and Indians) came during trading days for manufactured goods, fancy cloth, and items that could not be produced on-site or back on the rancho.
