12 Days of Midtown: Demonstration Day: A Simple Emigrant Christmas
December 11, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Imagine a world where Christmas meant only family, friends, and prayerful reflection. Decorations were homemade and traditions were brought from your home country. The magic of Christmas at the Fort is found in the international crafts: tin and paper ornaments, hand dipped candles, and in the music: hymns and carols that have been sung for generations. A simpler time that can be enjoyed by all and perhaps bringing new traditions to your family’s holiday season.
Popcorn and cranberry stringing. Candle dipping. Crafting paper cut-out ornaments. Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park (SHP) invites the community to step back in time for “A Simple Emigrant Christmas” to celebrate a variety of early holiday traditions and cultural activities similar to what California’s early Emigrants experienced in the 1840s.
This event is part of 12 Days of Midtown--festive fun & holiday cheer in Midtown!
