April 27-May 8, 2010
Add Review/Comment
An Open Exhibition of paintings of the American River Parkway and the wild things located there; a Gala and Art Auction, food, wine and art of the American River Parkway; and a Plein Air Quick Draw Paint, Show and Sale.
The first part of the event is an open, juried art show at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center. Artists may enter up to three paintings, any media. The juror will accept no more than two paintings per artist. It is not expected that all artists will have work accepted. These paintings must be of the American River Parkway and the wild things that live there. They need not be plein air. All paintings must be priced to sell, if accepted. One half of the sale price will go to the American River Natural History Association to benefit the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. Awards consisting of ribbons, cash and merchandise will be given. The juror for acceptance and awards will be Gregory Kondos. There will be a 2nd Saturday Reception on the closing day of the show.
Next, at the close of show, all paintings will be moved to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and displayed for the Gala and Auction. Each accepted artist will receive one Gala ticket (value $30). All paintings will be subject to be sold at live and silent auctions at the Gala for a minimum bid price of 35% of stated value or more. The artist will split the sale 50/50 with the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. It is expected that these juried art works will sell at prices near or above stated value!
The third part will be a Plein Aire Quick Draw Show and Sell Event. The 3rd Saturday Paint Out Group will assist. Artists will check in 9-10am at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center and pay a fee of $30 to ARNHA, which includes a Gala ticket. They will paint in the Nature preserve and in Hoffman park until 1pm, at which time the work will be framed, if needed, and displayed at the Nature Center by 2pm. Work will be for sale at a price set by the artist, one half of which benefits EYNC. 3rd Saturday Painters and Sacramento Plein Air Meetup painters are welcome but only artists paying the fee will be able to Show and Sell.
It is expected that this event will benefit the Effie Yeaw Nature Center greatly with much needed funds and create excitement about art in our wonderful American River Parkway.
