Get Audiences of all ages more involved in your performances! Get Ready for the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child Initiative & Ccme to a FREE workshop presented by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.

Marcia Daft, Kennedy Center Teaching Artist and Presenter: How do you draw the audience into your performances and engage them in activities that increase their connection to the music? What are the elements of an effective presentation for novice audiences? Musician/educator, Marcia Daft will lead hands on activities to demonstrate how to get audiences participating and then will work with several pre-selected professional musicians on pieces from their current repertoire in a master class format to help them develop more exciting, engaging and interactive presentations.

All participants will be invited to look for the interactive teachable elements in these performances. ARTISTS IN ALL PERFORMING ARTS DISCIPLINES ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. Although the emphasis of the workshop is on music, the principles apply to all performing arts.

With the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child Arts Education Initiative about to be implemented, we will need actors, dancers and musicians ready to provide performances and learning activities that really connect with students. Is that you? Marcia Daft is a pianist, with degrees from Duke University and University of Chicago and further study in performance at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In addition to being an active musician, Marcia Daft is a Master Artist with Wolf Trapp Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, and was responsible for the educational programming for the National Symphony for many years.
