Angelman Syndrome (AS) in a not so well genetic disorder often misdiagnosed as cerebral palsy or Autism. Individuals with AS have little to no verbal communication, motor difficulties, developmental delay, eating difficulties and more than 80% develop seizures prior to the age of 3. The most unique charactaristic of AS is that individuals have a very happy demeanor, which keeps moms like me going when days are tougher than most!

The national Angelman Syndrome Walk-a-Thon is the major fundraiser for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation. Each year thousands of people gather across the nation to make a difference. This event allows us to further introduce Angelman Syndrome to our communities, while allowing families and friends to gather and make key connections. The ASF National Walk also raises the much needed funds to support our mission of advancing the awareness and treatment of Angelman Syndrome through Research, Education, Information, Support and Advocacy for individuals with Angelman Syndrome, their families and other concerned parties.

This year marks the 4th year for the Sacramento area walk, which will be taking place in the village green area of beautiful William Land Park. Registration is FREE. We will be having a 1.5 and 3 mile walk option, with refreshments in the morning and lots of entertainment for the kids!

REGISTER ONLINE TODAY! GO TO: http://www.angelman.org/walk/walk-registration/

We are also in need of a few more volunteers the day of our event, so if you know of a anyone or if your part of a service group who would like to help out, please feel free to contact US.
