1906 Earthquake Living History Day
April 24, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Without question, earthquakes are a hot topic among Californians given our state often shakes, rattles and rolls with tremors large and small. But nothing in our present day experience is similar to “the Big One” -- the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. And, the California State Capitol Museum brings our history back to life for a special -- and free -- 1906 Earthquake Living History Day.
Don’t miss the opportunity to step back to the time when then-California Governor George Pardee receives a telegram -- not a text or email -- from President Theodore Roosevelt offering a staggering sum of $1 million for disaster relief. Visitors will be surrounded by costumed docents recreating the memorable scenes and moments of the recovering efforts. It’s an event all Californians can appreciate.
