Network for a Healthy California: Fruit and Veggie Fest

Join the Network for a Healthy California—Gold Country Region Retail Program, FoodMaxx and the Health Education Council for a Fruit and Veggie Fest to learn how you can make budget-friendly changes to improve your family’s health. The annual event is part of a statewide effort to empower low-income families to make healthy, active living a priority. It is one of several Fruit and Veggie Fest celebrations happening throughout California during the month of May.
Free to the public, Fruit and Veggie Fest Sacramento will offer a variety of fun and educational activities to help low-income shoppers learn how to shop smart to improve their health and the health of their families.
Fruit and Veggie Fest activities will include:
• Network for a Healthy California—Gold Country Region providing nutrition information, leading store tours and sharing tips and ideas to help shoppers make small, budget-friendly changes to improve their families’ health.
• Local families participating in fun physical activities
• Sacramento Food Bank providing food stamp information and
• Women, Infants and Children (WIC) providing program information
• Free Health Screenings (blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes) provided by Health Net
• Special guests A.G. Kawamura, Secretary, CA Dept. of Food and Agriculture; Bonnie Pannell Dist 8- Councilmember and Carlos Guiterrez Gonzalez- General Consul
• Local Champion Mom, Yemanya Napue, from Sacramento
