In “Confessions of a Pulpiteer,” Lee Boek not only gives a fascinating insight into the attractions and complexities of the American evangelical movement, he brings all the passion eloquence and theatrical power he learned as a preacher to create an evening that is stirring, though-provoking and – in some surprising ways – inspirational. In this one-man show with five fiddles and song, area local Lee Boek explores the rise and fall of his career as a fundamentalist preacher, from his childhood days listening to fire and brimstone sermons on the radio to his travels across America as a young itinerant preacher. When his seriously epileptic son becomes an emblem of what it means to be excluded, Boek reexamines his faith.
