158th Annual California State Fair

BIG FUN for Everyone: In addition to this year's new attractions, the State Fair will focus its traditional exhibits and competitions on recreation, sports, and tourism that make California an adventure capitol of the world. This year's theme is The Fun Just Got Bigger.

The fairgrounds will highlight some of the unique recreational activities available throughout the State of California for people of all ages. Partnerships are already being solidified with the California Travel & Tourism Commission, the US Post Office, the California Auto Museum, the Davis Bicycling Museum, US Bicycling Hall of Fame, and many others to provide a roadmap of adventures and travel destinations in the State.

New Dates, New Adventures! The California State Fair has moved off its traditional Labor Day schedule to a July event. An adventure will be waiting inside Cal Expo for a summer schedule that will no longer conflict with the busy back-to-school season.

Concert acts include I2W, Blue Oyster Cult, Air Supply, Neon Trees, Lee Greenwood, War, Choo Choo Soul, Three Dog Night and Starship with Mickey Thomas. Also scheduled are Beatles, Michael Jackson and Steely Dan tributes shows. See a complete concert schedule.

July 29 is California Wine Day. Tuesdays are Foster Farms Free Kids Days.

      why would u move the fair to july? born and raised in sacramento ca. never have i know it to not start in aug and end in sept. why did it chance

      The Fair Board is persistent on having the "Birthing" exhibits at this year's fair, despite the errant pregnant cow & her unborn calf being gunned down last year after escaping from the exhibit. The... Expand

      The Fair Board is persistent on having the "Birthing" exhibits at this year's fair, despite the errant pregnant cow & her unborn calf being gunned down last year after escaping from the exhibit. The cow was referred to as a "nut job" & ordered security to shoot her and they did, 7 times! There must have been a dozen farmers, cowboys, stockhandlers nearby, and THIS was the best they could do? Unacceptable! People need to be able to make an informed decision on whether they feel they should support the CA State Fair or not. As for me.... NOT! Collapse

      The last state fair a cow whom escaped the "birthing exhibit" got shot to death, which has led to public demand to stop such animal exhibits. The oher animals at the state fair are placed under just... Expand

      The last state fair a cow whom escaped the "birthing exhibit" got shot to death, which has led to public demand to stop such animal exhibits. The oher animals at the state fair are placed under just as stressful and arid situations while staying at the outdated, unsubstantial and non-air conditioned buildings from when Governor Ronald Reagan decided to spend as cheaply as possible for Cal Expo's buildings.
