The Sacramento Living Library: Alan O'Connor
September 19, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Time Tested Books and Midtown Monthly are proud to present Sacramento baseball historian and author Alan O'Connor for the September entry in our Sacramento Living Library series. Fans of the game and Sacramento history buffs alike would be wise not to miss this one. . . .
Alan is the author of Gold on the Diamond: Sacramento's Great Baseball Players 1886-1976, and he'll talk about our city's storied hardball history, including the players (Billy Newbert, "Demon" Doyle, Joe Marty, Tony Freitas), the fields (Buffalo Park, Edmonds Field), and the teams: Solons, Altas, Senators. (He may even have something to say about the River Cats.)
The Sacramento Living Library, curated by Time Tested Books’ Peter Keat and hosted by Midtown Monthly editor Tim Foster, is a unique addition to the River City’s cultural scene, giving stage to local legends like Russ Solomon and Jeffrey Callison, internationally-noted experts Darrell Corti and Dick Bertolucci, provocative social critics Peter Schrag and Ginger Rutland, and visionaries like architect-planner David Mogavero, filmmaker Richard Simpson, and chocolatier Ginger Elizabeth Hahn.
We're back to one exciting speaker after another, every month for the rest of the year, so we hope to see you through December--and beyond! As with all SLL events, admission is free (and first come, first seated) and everyone is invited.
