Peter Hillary, son of the great adventurer Sir Edmund Hillary, made history in 1990 as the first son to have followed in his father’s footsteps to the summit of the world’s highest mountain--Mt. Everest. Together they became the first father and son to establish new routes across Antarctica and the South Pole. Hillary is an explorer and philanthropist living in New Zealand and has over 30 expeditions in his career.

The Sacramento Speakers Series provides an open forum for the exchange of ideas, opinions, and perspectives as well as the enrichment of Sacramento community. Each season's speakers represent a wide variety of subjects ranging from world affairs, politics, business & economics to the Arts, entertainment and the environment. Speakers are chosen on the basis of their career achievements, and unique expertise in their particular field of endeavor.
