La Raza Galeria Posada is proud to host Enrique Ramirez to continue the Alta California: Celebrations of Home exhibition. Enrique will be performing for the Mexican Bicentennial Celebrations, singing song from the Mexican Revolution as well as other revolutionary music.
Enrique Ramirez is a singer-song writer raised in Torreon, Choahiula Mexico until the age of 14, only to be uprooted and brought to East Los Angeles in 1965. There, he was confronted with the shock of returning to his native homeland, at a time when the Watts Riots, the Vietnam War and the Chicano students walk-outs were changing the face of California.
Music provided an outlet and an arena for interpretation of the work around him. Enrique is a cofounder of "The Alacranes Mojados" ("The Wetback Scorpions") and Los Peludos. More recently, Enrique's song, "aqui no Sera" was performed by Ozomatli and was featured in the movie, "Real Women have Curves."
