Everything You've Wanted to Know About Day of the Dead Conference

Join us for a day of exploring the culture and tradition of Day of the Dead.
This one-day conference welcomes the community to participate in workshops, lessons, and engage in presentations by nationally and internationally recognized lecturers. This conference is to prepare all participants of the Dia de los Muertos: El Panteon de Sacramento community art exhibit on Nov 1.
Lectures include:
-"Dia De Los Muertos - Origins of a Tradition" by Professor Xochitl Castañeda, UC Berkeley
-"The Ocotepec Mestizo Tradition: La Novenaria, Nine Days of Fire Works and Rosaries" by Marta Ramirez Oropeza, Nahuatl specialist, UCLA Lecturer
-"Contemporary Concepts of Mexico's Day of the Dead in the United States" by Rene Yañez, San Francisco artist, curator and producer
- "The Sacramento Chicano Tradition of Dia De Los Muertos" by Josie Talamantez, Sacramento activist, Chicano/Mexicano & Indigenous arts community.
ALSO: Artists Mary Jane Solis from San Jose and Sugar Skull maker Robert O. Personalized sugar skulls will be on sale for $10.
