October 23, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Get a glimpse into California’s history when the Election Day Living History event brings the past alive! The California State Capitol will be turned back to 1906 with costumed docents dressed as the four gubernatorial candidates–Theodore Bell (Democrat), James Gillett (Republican), William Langdon (Independence League), and Austin Lewis (Socialist).
Each of the candidates will give a campaign speech in 15-minute plays repeated throughout the day. Also, women suffragettes will be campaigning for the right to vote. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice. This event is for everyone, with special activities for children.
