The Woodworking & D.I.Y. Shows will set up shop in Sacramento for a full weekend of wondrous world of wood, including learning through free seminars and hands-on demonstrations with national woodworking experts; and shopping for the latest tools, accessories, and parts at the lowest prices of the season. Casual hobbyists and enthusiasts alike can experience the camaraderie of their craft, as woodworking and D.I.Y. celebrities and experts from leading manufacturers share helpful tips for tackling fixer-upper projects like cabinet building and refinishing, share the artistry of woodworking at the hands-on Craft Supplies demonstrations, and compare different brands of tools in action all under one roof.
The Woodworking & D.I.Y. Show in Sacramento will be held in the Pavilions Buildings at the California Exposition & State Fair. The Woodworking Shows are the largest and best-attended woodworking and D.I.Y. events in the country. For more information about the Show or to pre-register for the ShowOFF Showcase, visit the website.
Highlights of the show include:
•Sacramento-area residents’ Artistry on Display: Members of local woodworking and arts guilds will display their handcrafted works, host a series of educational programs about woodworking and wood carving basics, and explain how they share their skill and passion with the community through volunteer activities.
•Hands-On Demos: National manufacturers including Bosch, Kreg, Lee Valley, Carter Products, Milescraft, Woodline USA, Stanley-Black & Decker, Bad Dog Tools, and many more will demonstrate their newest tools and products for drilling, cutting, planing, routing, and more!
•Expert Advice: Join cabinet-building whiz Jeff Ziegmann of Sommerfeld Tools for the Cabinet Building Experience to learn tips, tricks, and trade secrets to transforming a kitchen or bathroom into a designer’s showcase using a unique jig and a router table. Celebrity woodworker Jim Heavey will demonstrate the techniques needed to complete a project featured in the pages of WOOD Magazine. Hobbyists will learn why a versatile bandsaw might become their new favorite tool - even replacing the classic table saw - at the The Bandsaw Education Clinic.
•ShowOFF Showcase: Everyone is a winner in this friendly contest for woodworkers and craftspeople of all experience levels. The Showcase will highlight the area’s talented craftspeople, featuring one-of-a-kind decorative pieces, art, and projects. Enter a project completed in the last 12 months for a chance to win Bosch Tools. Pre-registration required. See website for details.
•Loggin’ Lumber with Wood-Mizer: Turn downed trees into usable lumber for home projects or for sale in this demonstration. Exotic logs cut at the show and suitable for easy-to-make side tables and other projects will be available to purchase.
•Cabinet Restoration & Refinishing: Craftsman and tool expert Mike Heavey will share trade secrets D.I.Y.ers need to transform outdated cabinets to showpieces all for a little elbow grease, inexpensive supplies, and a household steam iron – the same one used to press your shirt this morning!
•Craft Supplies Hands-On Seminar: Kids and adults alike will delight in the hands-on experience of working with expert turners from Craft Supplies at the "Learn to Turn” Seminar, where they’ll turn a block of wood into a one-of-a-kind pen that they can take home.
