Featuring: Shelley Burns
With incredible range, style and passion, Shelley Burns charms every audience! Burns performed as a special guest artist at the International Jazz & Blues Festival in Edinburgh (Scotland), in Athens (Greece) with the Andreas Thermos Quartet, and with Sacramento's own Avalon Swing. She has also performed with numerous jazz legends including Abe Most, Bob Baker, Gene Estes and Bob Draga. Burns is "Compelling and imaginative" says the JazzTimes.

Featuring: Joe Mazzaferro Quartet
Musician, composer, and educator, Joe Mazzaferro is a native of Northern California born in San Francisco and raised in Sacramento. He was exposed to music at an early age by his father, a local jazz bassist and high school band director, and began his trumpet and musical studies at age 12. Mazzaferro has performed in the Symphonic Wind and Pacific Jazz Ensembles, and had the unique opportunity of performing with jazz greats such as Dave Brubeck, Christian McBride, Jimmy Heath, Lewis Nash and Bobby Watson as well as members of the Brubeck Institute. While pursuing a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Tennessee, he performed regularly with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra. Since 2002, he has been a coach, conductor, and leader for the Cazadero Music Camp and Cazadero Jazz Project. Mazzaferro's most recent accomplishment is as one of the driving forces of the esteemed Sacramento Jazz Orchestra (SJO). Assembled during the summer of 2009, SJO was born from a need to create art jazz in a big band setting.
