Life is Precious is an exhibition of work by Native American artist Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds that will be on exhibit at La Raza Galeria Posada.

Edgar Heap of Birds is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work ranges from conceptual public art messages to paintings, prints, and monumental sculpture. Heap of Birds was one of a small group of artists whose seminal work in the 1980s in the New York art scene defined the pluralistic and sophisticated direction of Native art which continues to this day. He attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence, the Royal College of Art in London, and Temple University. His work has received many awards, including the Lewis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award in 1989 and a National Endowment for the Arts award in 2001.

Special events related to the exhibit:
-Friday, Feb 11: See Heap of Birds speak at a special presenation on the Sacramento State Campus.
-Sunday, Mar 6: Native American Film Festival.
-Date TBA: Native American Film series curated by Dr. Fred Dobb, LRGP Film Curator.
