Relationships and Social Media: How Social Networks Impact Friendship, Love, and Privacy is presented by the Social Media Club Sacramento.
Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day and there is no denying that in this digital age, social media has had significant impact on how we interact with and meet friends, family, colleagues, and significant others. There is also plenty of controversy with some experts warning that social media can foster a sense of "faux intimacy” while others argue that it provides new opportunities for expressions of friendship and community. While social media can be a powerful tool to connect with others, it can also have a darker side with very real concerns over social networks, public security, and privacy.
Whether you're digitally savvy or new to the scene, we invite you to join the Sacramento Social Media Club and our panel of local relationship and security experts for this free event* to learn about the latest trends in social media and relationships as well as the best digital tools to connect with others and protect your privacy.
Topics include:
-Top social media and relationship sites
-Best apps to connect and network
-Best practices to protect your privacy and security online

*Since our first event in April 2009, Sacramento Social Media Club has provided the community with free panels and workshops. We've brought cutting edge topics, knowledgeable speakers, and great food and drinks. We've been able to do all this for free thanks to generous sponsors and individuals. But, as we grow, we need your help. At this event, we're asking for a $10 donation at the door to help us cover costs.
