The Sacramento River Cats open their 12th season in West Sacramento against the Tacoma Rainiers. Sacramento is shooting for its fifth consecutive division title and 10th in 12 seasons. Over their first 11 seasons, the River Cats have produced Major League Baseball greats such as Cy Young Award winner Barry Zito, All-Star Nick Swisher, and Rookie of the Year Huston Street.
