Fête de la Francophonie: French Heritage Festival

Hop aboard our magic carpet! Celebrate the francophone cultures of the Southern Mediterranean! Did you know Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Lebanon are all French-speaking countries? Sponsored by the Alliance Française de Sacramento and open to the public, the Fête de la Francophonie is an all day family-friendly event featuring music, a cooking demonstration, activities for children, a film screening, food and drinks, and belly dancing.

The festival finale is a concert by North African fusion band, The Dunes. The Dunes are a North African fusion group, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Members hail from North Africa and Northern California. Singing in Arabic, Amazigh, French, and English, The Dunes mix original compositions with Moroccan, Algerian, and Tunisian favorites and rarities. Songs of love and life, exile and hope, faith and transformation come alive in The Dunes’ slamming live set to get dancers dancing, thinkers thinking, and groovers grooving.

Schedule:
1pm: Doors open, activities commence
6pm: Couscous & beverages, including one complimentary glass of wine or beer
7pm-10pm: Concert by The Dunes
