Building Successful Non-Profit Arts Organizations: A Seminar with Dr. Matthew Hinsley

This seminar is for anyone who values the role of art in his or her community. The seminar will inspire and motivate participants to address the most important issues facing the participant’s nonprofit organization. Dr. Hinsley will give a 90-minute seminar outlining topics in his book including, but not limited to:
1. Board of Director Development
2. Strategic Planning
3. Working with volunteers
4. Raising Money
5. Publicity and the Media
6. Managing Growth
7. YOUR Questions will be answered!

The final 30 minutes will be a no cost reception with food and non-alcoholic beverages. The reception will allow participants to purchase Dr. Hinsley's book (and get a $10 discount) and ask questions to Dr. Hinsley face to face. (Please let us know if you have food allergies. We will accommodate everyone, as we have access to a Registered Dietitian).

For those that want more detailed information from Dr. Hinsley, participants will also be able to sign up for the West Coast Guitar Societies Workshop on Saturday, April 16. The topics apply to all non-profits, not just guitar societies.

Dr. Hinsley was trained formally as an instrumental performer, not as an arts administrator. Over the course of fifteen years building community based arts programming, however, Hinsley learned valuable lessons from volunteers, board members, colleagues, and patrons. The lessons he’s learned, both through successes and missteps, apply to the real-world challenges arts entrepreneurs and their supporters face each an every day.
