Eva Rutland and Family: Local Author Presentation
April 12, 2011
Add Review/Comment
Eva Rutland, author of more than 20 novels and winner of the 2000 Golden Pen Award for Lifetime Achievement, will be here with her daughter Ginger Rutland, associate editor for The Sacramento Bee, and granddaughter Eva Fields to give a joint presentation.
Eva's autobiography, When We Were Colored: A Mother's Story, is about an ordinary, yet extraordinary, "colored" family who moved from segregation to integration during the turbulent Civil Rights Era of the 1950s and 1960s. Their story is achingly poignant at times, funny at others, and always down to earth.
