Endangered Species Weekend

The Discovery Museum Science & Space Center celebrates their 60th Anniversary with a year-long retrospective of science milestones of the last six decades. In May, they celebrate great science of the 1970s.

Once an animal or plant is extinct, it is gone forever. The implementation of the Endangered Species Act in 1973 was voted almost unanimously by Congress to prevent this from happening. Bring youngsters to the Museum this weekend to share how important this Act is and what types of animals it protects. A variety of specimens are available, highlighting endangered species. There is a focus on turtles and tortoises, including live threatened species to meet and learn about. A turtle craft is available for children 12 and under.

Planetarium shows at 1pm and 3pm are included with admission (ages 4 and above only); live animal shows at Noon and 2pm are for all ages.
