Dusu Mali Band, fronted by native Malian Ibrahim Kelly (nephew of Ali Farka Toure) combines Malian roots with a Pan African fusion of Jazz, Afro Beat, Blues, and Funk. The sound is expansive, poly-rhythmic, and melodic, weaving soulful guitars, hypnotic bass, and pulsing African percussion.
The word "Dusu" translates to "gentle heart" and the band strives to bring joy and unity with sound and dance.
Dusu songs are inspired by Dogon heritage experiences growing up in Africa. Dusu plays original music and recreates music based upon traditional song and dance from various regions of Mali--a western style deeply rooted in an African soil.
