Don Paul: Tools for Independence and Resistance
June 4, 2011
Add Review/Comment
Tools for Independence and Resistance will combine performance and dialogue. Don Paul will read the speech that Alexander Ben Postserial delivered to the Inmost Circle of the H.O.A.B.I.B. (Highest Of All Believers In Bamboozlement) on September 27, 2009 in their Banquet Hall beneath the Tower of London, its title a quote from Postserial, the secretive group's Chairman Emeritus, "Are We Mad for Mass Murder?".
He'll perform the songs "Homeland Security", "My Old Man," and "I Want To Be A Bank" and the poems "Blue Lightning," "Genes Wend to Necks like Swans," and "The Dreamers and the Believers." He'll talk about how local and national groups in the United States may gain independence and mutual sustenance through control of land, food, water, shelter, utilities, and media, and he'll hope to learn much more from the public in the Sacramento Valley.
Don Paul was the youngest winner of the Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Creative Writing at Stanford. Between 1982 and 1992 he held the World Road Best for running 50 kilometers. He's the author of more than 20 books and the leader or producer of more than 20 albums. From 1956 to 1958 he lived in a little pink house on Jolanna Lane in North Highlands, California. Since January 2006 he's lived in New Orleans, Louisiana to help with the recovery there.
