Lumens Light + Living and the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento’s Gallery Associates Stacey Hilton, Mariana Moscoso, and Diana Bowers are pleased to present Urban Light, an exhibition of cityscapes by Sacramento-based artist David Lobenberg. This exhibition of acrylic paintings, curated by Stacey Hilton, focuses on seasonal views of Sacramento during certain times of day. Lobenberg prefers fast drying acrylic paints rather than oils, which enables him to quickly layer his paint and make spontaneous changes. As a result, his process is very intuitive. He enjoys painting Sacramento urban scenes with expansive, panoramic views that convey a feeling of light from a bright summer sky, an intense, colorful sunset, or a gauzy, misty morning. David Lobenberg’s art has been published in American Artist, Southwest Art, and American Art Collector magazines. Lobenberg has a master’s degree in Fine Arts from UCLA and is an Adjunct Art Professor at Sacramento City Community College.
About the Art of Light series: Lumens Light + Living has invited Gallery Associates Diana Bowers, Stacey Hilton, and Mariana Moscoso from the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento to collaborate on a series of exhibitions called The Art of Light. In this yearlong series, they will explore how artists have taken the concept of light to create a unique visual experience using both traditional and nontraditional media. The visual possibilities of light are infinite and only limited by the artists’ unique experience.
