Seattle-based Joyfield was formed in July 2010. The four piece band consists of Ellie Soderberg (vocals, keys), Michael Szember (guitar), Nick Arneson (bass), Karris Nicklaus (percussion). Ellie Soderberg leads the band with her creative lyrics and vocals which have the “soft but strong, almost smoky quality of Sara Bareilles” (Kaitlin Gillespie, The Daily Evergreen). Soderberg wrote most of the arrangements on Joyfield’s first demo release Kaleidoscope, but the band is currently collaboratively working on their next full length demo. The demo includes ten songs which range from soft acoustic tracks to deep, grungy sounds, all of which are backed by the melodic piano and vocals of Ellie Soderberg. The mix of heavy guitar/bass and harmonious keys/vocals give Joyfield a unique approach to the alternative rock genre.
