    The California Museum’s family fun program Poppies, Butterflies, and Bears! Oh My! continues this summer. The activities include hands-on coloring stations, craft projects, scavenger hunts, and more appropriate for kids ages 3-12. Enjoy interactive learning about California history in every fun session

    Easily accessible by Light Rail at Archives Plaza stop. Air conditioned, cool relief for the long, hot days of summer vacation. Free with Museum admission and free for Museum Members.

    Schedule:
    -Tues, July 5: Eureka! Pan For Gold: Stake your claim, discover gold and trade in your nuggets for goods from the Museum’s general store.
    -Thurs, July 7: Symbols of the Stone Age: Create your own Chipped Stone Bear – California’s official Prehistoric Artifact - through the Museum's exhibit, "California Indians: Making A Difference."
    -Tues, July 12: Decked Out, California Style: Get inspired by the Museum’s newest exhibit, “Riding Concrete: Skateboarding In California” and decorate your own mini skateboard deck with state symbols.
    -Thurs, July 14: Deep Sea Fishing: Meet California’s salt water fish, the Garibaldi fish, and decorate your own.
    -Tues, July 19: Wonderful, Whacky Weaving: Learn about the Native art of basketry from the Museum's exhibit "California Indians: Making A Difference" and weave your own work of art using whacky paper strips.
    -Thurs, July 21: Historical Hats: Discover how history relates to fashion and design your own top hat or sunbonnet like California pioneers wore.
    -Tues, July 26: Back to the Bear: Learn why the grizzly bear is on California’s flag and design your own republic’s flag.
    -Thurs, July 28: Minerva, Ships and Stars! Oh My!: Get to know California’s many symbols and create your own state seal.
