Voice of the Voiceless: Work by Malaquias Montoya
September 20-November 18, 2011
Add Review/Comment
The Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento presents Voice of the Voiceless by Malaquias Montoya.
It is important to note that his other "voice" is the poster/mural. He is much more articulate and able to express himself more eloquently through this medium. It is with this voice that he attempts to communicate, reach out, and touch others, especially to that silent and often ignored populace of Chicano, Mexican, and Central American working class, along with other disenfranchised people of the world. This form allows him to awaken consciousness, to reveal reality and to actively work to transform it. What better function for art at this time? A voice for the voiceless.
There will be a Voice of the Voiceless lecture by Malaquias Montoya himself on October 12 from 6pm-9pm.
