In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play
January 25-February 26, 2012
Add Review/Comment
A 2010 Pulitzer finalist and Tony-nominated, In the Next Room is a laugh out loud, provocative, and touching play about marriage, intimacy, and electricity. In a seemingly perfect, 1880s Victorian home, proper gentleman and scientist Dr. Givings has innocently invented an extraordinary new device for treating “hysteria” in women. For the wife of Dr. Givings, the vagaries of the medical field have never held much allure...until now.
Nominated for both the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize, In the Next Room was a resounding hit when it opened on Broadway in 2009 and solidified playwright Sarah Rulh’s reputation as one of America’s most exciting contemporary writers. A sensitive study of the relationship between physical connection and emotional intimacy, In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play is an utterly beguiling play about love, longing, science, and invention.
There will be a special Valentine's Day evening performance on Tuesday, February 14.
