An Evening with Amiri Baraka and Ben F. Jones

An intimate evening of poetry and prose, hosted by Halifu Osumare, with world-renowned poet Amiri Baraka will highlight Baraka's social activism and his life-long involvement in the arts and politics. Born Everett Leroi Jones in New Jersey, Baraka has produced over 40 books of plays, essays, poems, and music history and is an esteemed lecturer.

A corresponding fine art installation by international artist and long-time friend of Amiri Baraka, Ben F. Jones will be featured at Evolve the Gallery. Ben has been cited by the Granma International of Havana, Cuba as one of the most important African-American artists of his generation. His practice is routed in social activism and an enduring commitment towards imploring his viewers to seek and attain a higher level of consciousness and worldly awareness.
